Ni4kids Family Awards

Our 2017 Family Superstars Revealed

As the countdown begins to lift off on the sixth annual Ni4kids Family Awards, we can now reveal the names of our 2017 finalists who we hope will be over the moon to discover they are joining us at a spectacular gala event at Belfast City Hall on Friday July 7 in their honour.

We were overwhelmed by the record number of incredible nominations which flew into Ni4kids HQ from all over the country, and humbled by the stories we read of the amazing children, parents, grandparents, teachers, charities, businesses and coaches who consistently go above and beyond for families with young children. It was such a difficult task to choose the shortlisted nominees from the quality of all nominations received – and a huge challenge to then select our finalists in each category.
Congratulations to everyone who made it onto our shortlist this year, you are all outstanding and on behalf of families across Northern Ireland we thank you for everything that you do. But ultimately, our judging panel had to select the standout few who topped their list for being everything a family star should be.

Lee Cutler, Centre Manager, Forestside who sponsor the Primary School Teacher of the Year Award said: “Forestside is very proud to sponsor the important Primary School Teacher of the Year category, which recognises local teachers for the crucial role they play in our children’s futures. Forestside frequently hosts educational projects aimed towards school-age kids and is lucky to have seen first-hand the impact teachers can have on engaging and inspiring their students. This year’s finalists are a shining example of the fantastic teachers we have across Northern Ireland, with each demonstrating an unbeatable level of support and consideration for their class. Congratulations to them all!”

Action For Children NI are sponsoring the 2017 Child of the Year Award. Director Dawn Shaw commented: “At Action for Children we were keen to support the Child of the Year Award because every day we meet children and young people who astound us with their resilience, their passion and their achievement. We felt it was important to tell their stories. The 2017 finalists are exactly that group of children. Once again, and very poignantly in the wake of the Manchester attack, these incredible finalists, these children, have a very important lesson for us as adults. A golden thread throughout the group is responding to personal adversity by giving to others. Our finalists teach us to look at what the helpers are doing when there are difficult times and they dare us to hope. I celebrate and commend them all to you.”
