Barnardo’s NI has over 30 year’s experience of successfully placing children with families. They take pride in recruiting the best foster carers, who believe in children no matter what they have done or what they have been through. As well as providing carers with comprehensive training, Barnardo's NI runs a 24 hour support service with generous financial rewards. They also arrange regular meetings so that foster carers can share experiences and advice.Among the children currently waiting for a foster home is ten year old Anna. Anna loves school and swimming and even dabbles in a bit of gardening. She thrives in the outdoors and loves football, animals and playing in the park. Anna has a lovable and generous personality. Anna needs a foster home, a family who can care for her until she is 18.One foster carer from the Finaghy area explains what being a foster carer involves; “Being a foster carer is not about being anything special, it’s about providing an ordinary family routine to a child who needs it.”Commenting on what it's like for the children who are fostered, a 16 year-old foster child adds, “They believe in me, give me hope and understanding and love me, which is a big thing in life. A person without love is completely lost.”
