April 2010
Spring signals change. It’s the chance to say so long to woolly hats and scarves and welcome warmer weather, plan more outdoor activities and for ni4kids, it’s a new editor! This is my first issue of the magazine and I am thrilled to be here.
It’s very exciting to be editing the leading and highest distributed consumer family magazine in Northern Ireland and I hope to build on the tremendous work done by the ni4kids team to date. I am keen to know your thoughts and ideas for the magazine, so please do get in touch if there’s something you feel we could do better or an issue you want to see more of in ni4kids. We’d love to hear from you.
This new season brings Easter time and we have been working hard to bring you a bumper-packed edition, bursting with ideas on what to do, where to go and what to visit over the holidays. Take some inspiration from our Easter-themed days out on Page 22 and browse our indispensable What’s On Guide on Pages 33-38 for our best selection of activities across Northern Ireland for things to do for Easter and beyond.
Elsewhere in the magazine, if the kids are bored and need something to occupy them for a couple of hours, try out our Easter egg recipe on Page 8 and 9 and be sure to read Maureen Boyle’s book reviews on Page 17 and get their noses into a book.
With the tax year ending on April 5, our financial expert Jason Holmes brings us advice on tax allowances and how we can save smarter with ISA’s (Individual Savings Accounts).
With your children in the house more over the Easter holidays, take some child-proofing tips from our home safety feature on Page 12 and 13, which gives advice on preventing accidents and if you are trying to deal with the stress of a picky eater in the family, turn to Page 18 and 19 for advice and guidance on what you can do as a parent to try and fix the problem. A refusal to eat only chocolate for breakfast on Easter Sunday doesn’t count!
